The town’s snow contractor will be out clearing main roads and sanding and salting once the sleet / rain / freezing rain lighten up this afternoon or evening. Any sand or salt applied now would be washed away.
Only main roads and known problem areas will be plowed (Island Lake, Star Lake, Archibald Lake, Pine Ridge, Old Log Siding, Red Pine area and a few others) and the hills on Zitski, Traxels Point and Swenka Hills. Gravel roads will not be touched due to the thawed conditions of those roads and the more damage caused than good by plowing them.
Crews are out clearing trees from roads, but ice build-up is constantly causing others to lean or fall.
We will continue to monitor road conditions over the next few days as this storm continues.
Town crews have checked the town roads several times and have been clearing trees from the roadway. As trees and branches continue to fall, please contact the town if a roadway needs clearing again. Branches that we have moved to the shoulder and ditches will be picked up and chipped whan weather permits. Trees that have bent over the road due to ice loading will be evalauated once the ice melts and if the tree hasnt straightened out and is still a height imparement, it too will be removed when conditions permit.
