Many residents have asked about yard waste disposal. Once the Riverview site opens for the season, Doty residents are able to take their brush there free of charge. It is still closed due to snow and a soft access road, but the Riverview Chairman is checking it weekly and hopes to have it open after Easter. Once it opens, it will be posted here.
The town, previous to the storm, had planned for fall curbside brush pickup after Labor Day in portions of the northern and southern parts of the town. We are checking to see if we can move that up to after Memorial day (to allow seasonal residents time to clean their yards) and possibly expand it to the central part of the town. This is dependent on contractor availibility and grant funding rules.
We are also working woth the DNR to see if additional funding is available for storm clean-up. Again, any news will be posted here. The governer has also declared a state of emergency which opens up funding opportunities. So far, the town has not seen any that apply to individuals or the town, but we are continuing to check.
Lastly, the town will be processing the downed trees in the road right of ways. This will start in a few weeks, once the weather improves and the snow melts from the ditches, so it is safe for the workers to collect the brush. This process will take time.
