The dump (green box, waste transfer facility) will be CLOSED Sunday the 15th due to the winter storm.
24" - 36" of snow is expected starting tonight and continuing until monday morning. Drifting is likely. Travel will be nearly impossible and BLIZZARD conditions are expected at times during the storm.
The snow removal contractor will be making multiple trips during the event through the town to clear snow, but with snowfall rates of 2 or more inches an hour, roads may become impassable. If conditions are bad enough the county may pull their plow trucks off the state and county highways.
It has been over five years since we had a storm of this magnitute. When clearing your property, work slowly and take breaks. Dont try to clean everything all at once. Check your furnace vents (and other vents) and clear snow from them to prevent problems. Be prepared for an extended power outage. Check on your neighbors. Snow may need to be removed from your roof following the storm depending on accumulation.
The town has plans in case of ambulance or fire calls to get the necessary emergency people to where they are needed, but responses will be delayed.
Stay Safe and Stay Home.
